A Platform To Share Your Creative Expressions
Calling all students (age 7+) and alumni to join in the 1st installment of the Iranian-American Youth Open Mic, a program that is created to inspire creativity and build confidence while fostering cultural expression and dialogue.
This is your chance to step into the spotlight and share your voice, whether through storytelling, humor, poetry, or thoughtful reflections. Fill out the form to enter your piece and present it in Persian or English—whichever you prefer!
When: Jan. 26, 2025 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm
Where: School Location
Who: Ages 7 and older + CPS alumni of high school and beyond
Why: Because we hope to empower our students and alumni to
Speak their minds and share their stories.
Build self-confidence in expressing their thoughts.
Connect with others through shared experiences.
What: Choose from a variety of topics and formats, including but not limited to
Poetry: Share original poems or recite beloved works that resonate with you.
Life Experiences: Narrate personal stories that have significance to you.
Observations: Reflect on your multicultural upbringing and share your thoughts.
Opinions: Express your vision for the world or community you’d like to see.
Comedy: Share light-hearted humor or comedic observations.
Cultural Stories: Highlight moments that connected (or disconnected) you to Persian heritage.
How: Students and alumni interested in participating should prepare a piece to present (in Persian or English) and apply for a slot, using this simple form. Performances should be under 8 minutes and adhere to the event’s guidelines.
Rules: To ensure a respectful and inclusive environment, the following guidelines will apply:
No Harmful Speech: Offensive language, profanity, sexual references, and content that labels or targets specific groups or individuals will not be allowed.
Supportive Atmosphere: This is a judgment-free zone where creativity and individuality are celebrated. Come with an open mind and heart and hold a safe space for self-expression.
