Chicago Persian School Policy & Expectations
At Chicago Persian School, our policies exist for one reason: to make sure every student feels safe, respected, and ready to learn. Below is a summary of our key expectations for students and families. For more details on any topic, visit our FAQ page or contact us directly. We're always happy to answer questions. Academics & Attendance
-
Class reports and homework assignments are posted to Google Classroom every week. Parents are expected to read teacher notes and support their child's homework completion.
-
Planned absences must be reported to the teacher at least 24 hours in advance. For unexpected absences (illness, etc.), please notify the teacher on the day of class.
-
For private lessons, last-minute cancellation or arriving more than 15 minutes late without advance notice is treated as a no-show, and the session is charged.
-
Catching up after an absence is the student's and their parent's responsibility. Teachers are available to help, and additional tutoring can be arranged for a fee.
-
More than two consecutive unreported absences, or more than four unreported absences in one semester, may result in termination of enrollment.
-
Parent-teacher conferences are held mid-year. Parents' participation is expected.
Student Conduct
-
We expect every student to treat their classmates, teachers, and staff with kindness and respect, in the classroom, in common areas, and online.
-
No bullying, abusive language, or physical aggression, anywhere in the school, at school events, or online, by the Chicago Persian School students, their parents, teachers, board, or staff members.
-
No personal electronic/smart devices inside the classroom during class time.
-
Students must remain in the school building for the entire school session.
-
Appropriate clothing is required. Items with messages related to sex, drugs, or violence are not permitted.
-
When a behavioral issue arises, we address it through a progressive process: a conversation with the student, followed by parent notification, a family meeting if needed, and, in rare cases, removal from class. Immediate suspension may result from physical aggression, serious abusive language, chronic bullying, or possession of dangerous items. Dismissal from the school is a genuine last resort.
-
Parents and family members may not discipline or reprimand any child other than their own. If parents observe behaviors that concerns them, they should help deescalate to prevent immediate harm and report the matter to a School administrator so it can be addressed appropriately and consistently in accordance with School policies.
Safety & Drop-Off
-
Parents and caregivers must exit their vehicle and walk their child across the parking lot at both drop-off and pick-up. The school is not responsible for student supervision during these transitions.
-
Students who are ill should not be brought to in-person classes. Students with a fever or visible signs of illness will be sent home.
-
Students may not leave the school building at any point during school hours (10:45 AM – 1:30 PM) without a parent or authorized caregiver.
-
If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child, please notify us in advance.
-
Students are strongly discouraged from bringing valuable personal items, toys (unless arranged in advance for the show-and-tell time), or large amounts of cash to school. The school is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.
-
During recess, students must remain in designated areas and may not return to classrooms, use elevators, or access any unsupervised area of the building.
Food, Snacks & Allergies
-
No food or drinks are permitted inside classrooms, with limited exceptions for medical needs or school-announced events.
-
Snacks are provided by volunteer families during the Sunday recess period.
-
Food allergies must be reported at enrollment and communicated to the teacher at the start of the year.
Tuition & Payments
-
Group classes: payment in full, or installment plans over 4 or 8 months.
-
Private/Joojeh classes: pay-by-session or prepay for 10 sessions.
-
Family discount available for siblings enrolled in group classes.
-
Refunds: No refund after the 3rd session for group classes (minus $30 registration fee); no refund after the 1st session for private classes.
Communication & Feedback
-
Any concern involving the behavior of a student, parent, staff member, or volunteer should be reported to the teacher or school administration. The school is responsible for handling all conduct matters and will follow up promptly and confidentially.
-
Reach us in person on Sundays, by email at info@chicagopersianschool.org, or by phone/text at (847) 868-0577.
-
Concerns about academic, behavioral, or safety matters should be directed to the teacher first, then to school administration if unresolved.
-
If you have a formal concern or complaint, you may submit it in writing to cpsboard@chicagopersianschool.org. All concerns are taken seriously and handled with confidentiality.
Privacy & Photos
-
Your personal and financial information is kept strictly confidential and is never sold or shared with third parties.
-
Student photos may be used in school communications and on the website only if you have opted in through the enrollment form. You may withdraw this permission at any time.
