Language Credits and
the Seal of Biliteracy
High School Language Credit
Chicago Persian School is an approved "Ethnic Language School" by the Illinois State Board of Education. This recognition means that high school students completing our program can qualify for a foreign language credit (for Persian) on their high school transcript. This request must be communicated and approved by the high school. Please keep in mind that some school districts may not accept language credits from institutions outside of their district. We would be glad to provide our school's approval from the Illinois State Board of Education.
Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy
The State Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition given by the State of Illinois to high school seniors who have studied and can exhibit the ability to communicate in two or more languages (including English) by their senior year of high school. It is highlighted on high school diplomas and serves as a statement of accomplishment for college admission and for future employment. To receive the Seal, graduating seniors must complete an approved Persian language proficiency test to demonstrate an Intermediate High level of proficiency.
Your proficiency in the Persian language can be recognized through the Seal of Biliteracy if you can meet the required score (Intermediate High) via an approved Persian language testing provider. We encourage you to reach out to your high school administration for further guidance and let us know how we can support you. Most high schools in Illinois have agreements with testing providers such as AVANT and ALTA, allowing their students to test for Persian at no cost. Let us know if your high school does not provide this service, because Chicago Persian School can proctor the same tests for assessing your Persian language proficiency level at a nominal cost.
