- 01The safety of our students during transitions is a shared responsibility between the school and families. The school is not responsible for supervising students during drop-off and pick-up, so please ensure your child is accompanied across the parking lot. Here is what we ask: Exit your vehicle and walk your child across the parking lot at both drop-off and pick-up. Please do not drop off or pick up from inside the car. Be on time for pick-up. If you are running late due to an unforeseen circumstance, please call or text the school as soon as possible so a staff member can remain with your child until you arrive. Notify us in advance if someone other than a parent or usual caregiver will be picking up your child.
- 02Recess runs from 12:00 to 12:30. During this time, students are welcome to enjoy snacks in the 2nd floor common area, hang out with friends or parents, or use the 1st floor gym for active play. One staff member monitors the gym area, and another is stationed in the lobby to ensure no student leaves the building unaccompanied. Students are not permitted to leave the school, roam unsupervised in hallways, or return to any classroom before the end of recess at 12:30. No student may be in a classroom without adult supervision at any time. We always welcome parent volunteers to help with additional supervision during recess, please let us know if you're available!
- 03For minor injuries such as bumps or bruises, our staff provides immediate first aid using our on-site first aid kit (including ice packs and basic supplies) and notifies the parent. For anything more serious, we contact emergency services (911) and the parent simultaneously. We do not transport students in private vehicles in an emergency. In the event of a fire or other emergency requiring evacuation, students are escorted out of the building and gathered in a designated safe area until all students are accounted for and families are notified.
- 04No. Students under the age of 18 may not leave the school building at any point during official school hours (10:45 AM – 1:30 PM) unless they are accompanied by a parent or caregiver. This policy is in place for the safety of every student in our care.
- 05Snacks for the whole school are provided by rotating parent volunteers during the Sunday recess period. Individual students may also bring their own food or snack to enjoy outside of class time. Food and drinks are not permitted inside classrooms, with the following exceptions: A student with a medical need (pre-arranged with the school and noted in the registration form). School-announced events or celebrations, such as Yalda or Hot Chocolate Day (families are notified via Google Classroom in advance.) Birthday lollipops: on a student's birthday, the teacher may share an allergen-free, all-natural Yum Earth lollipop with the class.
- 06Please report any food allergies or significant medical concerns at the time of enrollment through the registration form. We also strongly encourage you to remind your child's teacher at the start of the academic year. Teachers keep this information on hand for any occasion when food or snacks are served in class. If your child's medical situation changes during the year, please notify the school as soon as possible.
- 07Recess (12:00–12:30) is a time for students and teachers to relax, eat, and recharge. During recess: Students may enjoy snacks in the 2nd floor common area and socialize with friends or family. The 1st floor gym is available for active play and is supervised by staff from 12:10 to 12:30.
