Our Teaching Policy

Teaching Resources:
We use various resources for Persian language instruction in our classes.  Examples are the “Farsi Biamuzim” sereies by Bahram Tavakoli (Sam Publishing Center HB), the current Iran’s elementary-school Farsi textbook first through fifth grade reading & writing books, (Publisher: Ministry of Education, Iran), book 1 through 3 of “Farsi Biamuzim” series, text & work books (Madreseh Publishing Co., Iran), “Darse Farsi” by Taghi Pournamdarian (Social Sciences and Cultural Studies Research Institute Publications, Iran), “Iran ra Beshenasim” by Homa Raafe.

Homework:
Homework is determined by each individual teacher according to the needs of each participating student or class. Please take the homework assignments very seriously as the weekly intervals of our school may easily lead to fading of the learned lessons. Farsi is a second language for most of our students and continued practice at home is the only route to assure a lasting effect.

Evaluations:
Student’s academic progress is evaluated and reported two times per academic year. First parent-teacher conference is mid year and the second one is at the end of the school year.

Extra Curricular Activities:
Chicago Persian School offers various enrichment classes related to Iranian culture, depending on the number of enrollments.
Example enrichment classes for the 2011-2012 academic year:
- Persian Choir
- Persian Dance
- Persian Calligraphy

Extra curricular classes are on Sundays 3:15-4:30 pm.
Please let us know if you have any other suggestion for extra curricular classes.
